Be damned if our government shuts down except that our family will definitely be impacted since my hubby works for Uncle Sam. However, since he knows first-hand how inefficiently parts of our government are run...and has to work in a stressful and unfulfilling environment on a daily basis...he will embrace the shutdown as a nice vacation. Even though the "vacation" is unpaid! But...since we have a simple lifestyle and don't over-extend ourselves, we'll be just fine. Too bad our government decision-makers don't operate under the same principles! Funding three wars - really? Holy smokes, no wonder we're in so much trouble. Enjoy the Masters Andy!

This was a response I made to an article in my local paprer regarding a California State issue. Basically it was going to be a tax on all businesses on gross receipts after payroll and vendor expenses of around 4%

I was merely claiming that the idea of a tax prior to discussions of cutbacks seemed irresponsible.

Hi brudder- I couldn't agree more- so I'll add to the 'dibage'. Last weekend I went to San Jose with Miki and some of her friends. There was an animation festival going on they really wanted to see and me being the over indulgent parent that I am, I took them. While they were oohing and ahhing over the Japanese anime, I went to see the Moder Art Museum. Inside they have some wonderful exhibits. The one that your blog brings to mind was an electronic audio video installation called ' The Listening Post' by Mark Hansen and Ben Rubin. The exhibit is a floor to ceiling collection of video screens all linked together. They collect real time data streams from the internet and display short phrases that are visible at that time online. When a certain number of words are all used simultaneously, there is an electronic voice that reads the common phrases. it is very strange and weird to see and hear what could be called a collective consciousness displayed in a very public place. Big Brother is really watching! Love you Andy.

Spent nine months of labor and love there at the yard in Calcutta. Where a new life was born out of 10 years of neglect. West i have gone from the yard not too far, 56 miles, to be exact. Much further than most, not as far as i hope. The yard, a gateway to a new life. and a welcome mat always out for a stay or just a cup...
