OUR CREW
![]()
Steve Phillips, Shipwright:>
Steve is a relativley new addition to our crew and brings a host of boat knowledge with him. You might recognize Steve as he is frequently sighted on the bows of our areas fastest racing boats. Steve is a top notch carpenter and able shipwright. He hails from Colorado where he mastered the sport of hang gliding. He once traveled over 120 miles by glider! He lives aboard his CT Ketch. THANKS STEVE!!!
Mr. Frank Gomez> started with us in 1989. He is our senior shipwright and painter. This paint job is about halfway done since we have been timing the process with record winds and cold. Frank is using a new Sata HVLP gun with our new treated and dried air supply. THANKS FRANK!
Alonso Lopez, Painter: >
Alonso is an Oxnard Community College Autobody Technology Student. He is an excellent painter and is learning about boats everyday. Alonso is pretty quiet, but watch out, he asks some terrific questions and takes great pride in his work. THANKS ALONSO!
< Dan Rivera
Dan is Anchors Way Marine's Yard Custodian. We like to call him our Cleaner Fish, Dan has been with us since 2000 and loves to work. We really don't know how old Dan is, but he is in excellent condition. He rides his bike to and from work logging over 25 miles a day! Everyday begins with a proclamation from Dan "It is a great day to work Boss!" THANKS DAN!
Jet >
Jet has been with Anchors Way Marine since 2005. She is in charge of yard security and greets all comers with a bark or a wag, depending on the day. Don't worry, she has never bitten anyone, but she does love treats!
Janice Killion: < Janice is my little sister. She is a recent UCSB grad who majored in Global Studies. She speaks fluent German and has spent a lot of time abroad in London and Berlin. She is our receptionist and is rapidly learning about estimates and boat projects. Janice's first years were aboard a boat right here in Ventura Harbor! She loves sailing and is very smart. Give her a call to schedule your next haulout. THANKS JANICE!
Gil Guajardo >
is the yards Equipment Operator. He has been with us since January 2000. Gil is usually the first man you see when arriving at our docks. He has his own proprietary language when moving boats and engines around. Please do not even try to interpret. Gil prides himself on safe and secure yard operations. We do not like to rush, so please be patient. THANKS GIL!!
Phil Elliot <
Phil Elliot is our new Saturday counter man. He works for Lowes during the week and has plenty of retail experience. He hails from Florida and is learning the fairly complicated Yanmar parts numbering system as he goes. He can help with your store inquiries and if he can't answer your question, he can take your info so we can get back to you on Monday. Phil is a great guy and wants to help. He can also help schedule your haul out. THANKS PHIL
